In light of the continued effects of Hurricane Sandy, THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELED. We hope to reschedule and will announce details as they become available. Ceremonial Magic (2011) - world premiere, Miller Theatre and Works & Process co-commission The Hermetic Organ, Office Nr 5 John Zorn, solo organ improvisation THIS EVENT HAS ALREADY OCCURED IN A PREVIOUS SEASON! An encore to last season’s packed-to-the-gills performance, John Zorn returns to St. Paul’s Chapel for another improvised performance on the beautiful Aeolian-Skinner organ. Inspired by the organ’s historical use in horror movies, as well as his own unique blend of musical inspirations, Zorn creates a rich musical experience. The concert opens with the world premiere of a new work for violin entitled, fittingly, Ceremonial Magic. Co-presented with Music at St. Paul’s and Works & Process at the Guggenheim FREE and open to all, but seating capacity is limited. A line will form at 5:00 p.m. and admission will be on a first-come, first-served basis. |
