Onstage discussion with Leon Kirchner
Miller Theatre honors New York native Leon Kirchner (b. 1919), who at 90 remains a composer of vigorous and poetic music. He is a performer’s composer, championed by some of the world’s finest musicians, many of whom are personally joining in the celebration. This Portrait features works written over a span of fifty years, including both his seminal double concerto and recent and early chamber music.

Read this concert's program notes by Paul Griffiths.

Major support for the Composer Portraits series is provided by the Francis Goelet Charitable Lead Trust. Additional support is provided by The Aaron Copland Fund for Music. This project has been made possible by the National Endowment for the Arts as part of American Masterpieces: Three Centuries of Artistic Genius.
